Systems Engineering support at NASA HQ encompasses advanced technical
support across a wide breadth of activities and serves as a central
service to assure internal and external Enterprise Architectural
compliance and integrated approaches. We focus on emerging industry,
Internet and NASA IT technologies to support Headquarters and Agency
decisions on strategic and tactical direction, systems integration, and
on problems or anomalies escalated for analysis and recommendations. The
Systems Engineering team works very closely with the HITSS Operations
team to oversee and manage the servers and Internet infrastructure at
NASA HQ.
In addition, we support the following HQ efforts:
- HQ IT Infrastructure Support
- Technology Assessments & Tactcal Planning
- Chief Information Officer (CIO) Working Groups
- IT Engineering Investigation and Development
- Development and Integration Activities among Wide-Area,
Metropolitan-Area, and Local-Area Networks
Systems Engineering Facility (SEF)
The SEF, located at NASA Headquarters, is an accessible but controlled
facility to enable systems engineering and integration testing,
evaluation, maintenance, and operations of existing and proposed
Headquarters network systems and services. The SEF provides platforms
for testing alternatives to satisfy new communications requirements at
Headquarters. As a result, the SEF configurations alternatively mirror
the current Headquarters environment and possible future environments.
